Win Our Whale Tail Pendant
Â
A Whale of a Tale Winner
Congratulations to Elizabeth Goggins, with this winning entry:
"For my 41st birthday I talked a friend of mine into joining me in Baha, Mexico to go whale watching. He came from Washington, DC and I, the US Virgin Islands. We had heated discussions the whole way there because many wanted to turn Leguna San Ignacio, the last place on earth grey whale could give birth in peace, into a salt factory. On my birthday I was petting a grey whale and they and their babies were all around us. On the second day as he, a trained opera singer, sang our little fishing boat was surrounded by a mother and calf playing, a school of dolphin and numerous birds flying overhead. Magical, mystical day and he gave up supporting the factory."

I grew up on an Island and got to see whales off and on , they are majestic creatures.
To me this whale pendant symbolizes a killer whale or an orca. She is the queen of all of Earth’s oceans. She is the largest mammillian predator capable of bringing down a great white shark! Her species do not fight over food or territory. Orcas take only what they need to survive. Yet they do defend their own podmates. The oldest female is the leader of the pod and her children never leave her side for their entire lives. She is such a great teacher that her kind have survived and thrived for 11 million years. If this is not the true meaning of the power of the female, I don’t know what is! I ask that orca swim with me everyday so that I too can be a great mother and teacher and remain in my children’s hearts forever. This pendant puts orca into our hearts.
We have been whale watching on both coasts, and relish every experience.
For my parent’s 40th Anniversary they took my sister and I, along with our spouses and kids, on an Alaskan Cruise. We spent hours watching the whales swimming by the ship. It was a wonderful trip.
beautiful piece, love the symbolism. Blue topaz is my birthstone, goes beautifully with anyones love of the purity of water.
