Amethyst, the birthstone for February, is one of the master healing crystals. SImbolc falls on the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, usually Feb. 1, when folks celebrate the visible first signs of spring and the return of the light. Imbolc celebrations take the form of a festival in honor of the pagan goddess Brigid, who was evoked in fertility blessings and oversaw poetry, crafts and prophecy. This cornerstone of the Celtic Calendar, heralds the underground movements of renewed life beneath the earth's belly.
